Suspected Femicide in Torreón; Ex-Partner Arrested

Authorities in Torreón, Coahuila, have arrested a suspect in connection with the femicide of a 28-year-old woman. The victim, identified as Nora, was found dead with signs of a violent attack involving a bladed weapon in her home in the Benito Juárez neighborhood early Sunday morning.

According to the Coahuila state prosecutor's office, the prime suspect is Julio 'N', the victim's former partner. He reportedly arrived at Nora's residence around 2 a.m. and fatally attacked her inside the home. Neighbors, alerted by screams, entered the residence and found Nora unconscious. They immediately contacted emergency services via the 911 system.

Law enforcement, including elements from the Agency of Criminal Investigation and the State Police, responded rapidly to the scene. A police cordon was established around the area. Through an "operational deployment," authorities were able to detain Julio 'N' shortly after the incident. He has been placed at the disposal of the prosecutor's office to begin legal proceedings.

The victim's body was transported to the Forensic Medical Service for an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death. The investigation is ongoing as authorities gather evidence and prepare the case against the alleged femicide.
