Suspected La Unión Tepito Member Arrested in Mexico City with Over 100 Drug Doses

Authorities in Mexico City have apprehended Hugo Alexis 'N', a man identified as a suspected member of the notorious La Unión Tepito criminal organization. The arrest took place in the Morelos neighborhood within the Cuauhtémoc borough, a central area of the capital.

During a routine patrol, officers observed Alexis 'N' exhibiting suspicious behavior related to what appeared to be drug packaging. Upon approaching the individual, police conducted a search that led to the discovery of a firearm equipped with a magazine and seven live rounds. Additionally, officers confiscated 83 small bags containing marijuana, approximately half a kilogram of the drug, 99 doses of cocaine, and 89 plastic wrappers holding suspected methamphetamine.

The 30-year-old suspect was taken into custody and is currently facing legal proceedings to determine his situation. The Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC) has identified La Unión Tepito as a significant source of violence in the city center, primarily involved in extortion and drug trafficking activities.

This apprehension is part of ongoing efforts by the capital's police force to combat organized crime and drug dealing in key urban areas. The seizure of weapons and a substantial quantity of narcotics underscores the persistent challenges authorities face in maintaining public safety.
