Syafinaz Selamat Reappointed Distinguished Adjunct Professor at UPSI

Datuk Syafinaz Selamat's extensive experience in music and performance has earned her a reappointment as Distinguished Adjunct Professor at Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI). This marks her second term, effective from August 1, 2024, to July 31, 2028.

UPSI Vice-Chancellor Prof. Datuk Dr. Md. Amin Md. Taff emphasized the university's strategy to bridge academia and industry. This approach aims to cultivate graduates possessing not only academic knowledge but also practical skills, creativity, and professional values essential for the creative sector. The reappointment signifies the university's recognition of Syafinaz's expertise in talent development and music education, which will further enhance UPSI's academic environment.

During her first term, Syafinaz made significant contributions through various academic and artistic activities. According to the Dean of the Faculty of Music and Performing Arts (FMSP), Prof. Madya Dr. Muhammad Fazli Taib Saearani, she co-supervised doctoral students in Music Performance, lectured on vocal production, and conducted masterclasses. Her expertise was also instrumental in preparing the deVokalis Choir for the Busan Choral Festival in 2026, focusing on vocal development, interpretation, and performance quality.
