Syed Saddiq's charity run raises RM54,692 on first day

Muar Member of Parliament Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman has successfully raised RM54,692 on the first day of his 170-kilometer charity run from Putrajaya to Muar. The four-day event, which commenced at the Palace of Justice in Putrajaya, aims to gather funds to assist underprivileged students and families within the Muar parliamentary constituency.

This initiative also serves as an expression of gratitude following Syed Saddiq's successful acquittal in a court case that had spanned six years. The former Youth and Sports Minister expressed his deep appreciation for the public's support along the route from Putrajaya to Salak Tinggi, and the even larger crowd of supporters who welcomed him in Labu, Negeri Sembilan, late into the night.

"Along the journey from Putrajaya to Salak Tinggi, many people waited by the roadside to offer encouragement, shake hands, and offer prayers," Syed Saddiq shared in a social media video. "When I arrived in Labu, I never expected so many people to still be waiting even though it was late at night. Perhaps I was the one running, but this journey is propelled by everyone's support."

The charity run follows the Court of Appeal's decision to acquit and discharge Syed Saddiq from four corruption charges, concluding a six-year legal battle. The funds raised will be used to purchase iPads for students pursuing higher education and to provide food baskets for needy families in Muar. Syed Saddiq encouraged continued contributions through the official fundraising platform to reach the RM200,000 target before the run concludes in Muar.
