Syekh Yusuf Quranic study house to be built on donated land in Gowa

A new Rumah Tahfiz, dedicated to Syekh Yusuf Al-Makassari, is set to be constructed in Gowa, South Sulawesi, following a significant land donation. Harris Arthur Hedar, Chairman of Perhimpunan Advokat Indonesia Profesional (Peradi Profesional), committed the land during the 3rd Akbar Haul Syekh Yusuf Al-Makassari. This initiative aims to establish a center for Islamic education, focusing on the Quran and reinforcing Islamic values for the youth.

Harris stated that the donated land will be formally processed through a notary deed before being handed over to the Yayasan Syekh Yusuf Al-Makassari. He expressed hope that the study house would serve as a vital platform for transmitting Syekh Yusuf's legacy. This includes promoting his teachings on unity, tolerance, and national service, guiding younger generations in their societal, national, and state responsibilities.

The commitment was announced during the Akbar Haul event, which drew around 1,500 attendees and guests from various regions. Syekh Yusuf Al-Makassari, born in Gowa in 1626, was recognized for his role in spreading Islam and fighting colonialism, with his influence reaching Sri Lanka and South Africa. His legacy even inspired Nelson Mandela, who cited Syekh Yusuf as a figure who motivated the struggle against injustice and apartheid.
