Syrian President Bashar al-Assad has disclosed that Syria is actively seeking a security agreement with Israel, a move he believes could open the door to comprehensive peace between the two nations. In an interview with Al Jazeera, Assad stated that such a deal would not compromise Syria's rights to the Golan Heights, which Israel has occupied since 1967 and annexed in 1981.

The Syrian president clarified that his government is not considering military intervention in Lebanon, despite repeated suggestions from U.S. President Donald Trump about Syria's potential involvement in the Israel-Hezbollah conflict. Assad previously denied any military engagement in Lebanon, emphasizing a focus on "economic channels."
