Tabung Haji expands financial literacy program to East Coast

Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH) is extending its 'Cilik-Cilik Dah Celik' (Young Ones Already Literate) financial literacy program to the East Coast of Malaysia this year. This expansion follows the successful pilot program conducted in the Klang Valley last year, which engaged approximately 100 young families.

These successes have given TH the confidence to expand the program to the East Coast to nurture more financially literate generations.

The program, a strategic collaboration with the Credit Counselling and Debt Management Agency (AKPK), will involve 100 young families from Terengganu, Kelantan, and Pahang. Its core objective is to cultivate prudent financial management practices from a young age, preparing them for future Hajj pilgrimage obligations.

TH Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Mustakim Mohamad, highlighted the success of the pilot program. He noted that 92.3% of the nearly 100 participating families consistently saved money, with over 50% accumulating more than RM1,000 within 100 days. Furthermore, about 80% of participants showed positive improvements in their financial attitudes, knowledge, and behavior.

TH is committed to helping the community build a strong financial foundation in preparation for fulfilling the Hajj pilgrimage. This preparation must start early through saving practices and good financial management so that the journey towards istito’ah can be undertaken with more peace and confidence.

He emphasized that the interactive modules help parents and children plan finances systematically, critically evaluate expenses, and make wiser, more disciplined financial decisions. TH remains committed to helping the community build a strong financial foundation for their Hajj journey, stressing that preparation should begin early through consistent saving and sound financial management.
