Tabung Haji RCI: Ex-Plantation Manager, Company Director Remanded by MACC

The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (SPRM) has remanded a former plantation manager and a company director as part of its investigation into the Tabung Haji Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) findings. The RCI report was made public on July 29, 2026.

In one case, a former plantation manager for a rubber seedling supply company in the Klang Valley was detained. He is suspected of embezzling funds from a contract to supply seedlings to a subsidiary of a statutory body involved in the plantation sector. The contract was valued at approximately RM8 million. The suspect, in his 50s, was arrested after appearing at the SPRM headquarters to give a statement. Initial investigations suggest the alleged offenses occurred between 2015 and 2017.

In a separate case, a company director specializing in design was remanded for allegedly bribing a former chief operating officer (COO) of a statutory body. The bribe, amounting to RM300,000, was allegedly given in exchange for help in securing renovation projects for the statutory body. The suspect, also in his 50s, was apprehended at the SPRM headquarters. Investigations indicate the alleged bribery took place between 2014 and 2018, with the suspect accused of financing renovations for four units of the former COO's house, totaling around RM300,000.

SPRM Chief Commissioner Datuk Seri Abd Halim Aman confirmed the arrests, stating that the cases are being investigated under Section 16 of the SPRM Act 2009. The remand orders were issued by Magistrate Ezrene Zakariah at the Putrajaya Magistrate's Court.
