Taichung MRT Blue Line Main Civil Engineering Project Begins

Taichung's Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) Blue Line has officially entered its main construction phase with the commencement of civil engineering work on the BC11 section. The project, located at the westernmost elevated segment of the Blue Line, spans approximately 2.49 kilometers. It begins at Lingshang Road Section 4 and proceeds south along the road at an elevated level.

The construction will involve building elevated bridges and three elevated stations. The first station, B01, will be situated at the intersection of Lingshang Road and Taiwan Boulevard. The second, B02, will be near Wuguang Elementary School, and the third, B03, will be near the Chung-Shan Medical University Hospital. This section will also cross over the Taiwan Strait West Coast Expressway.

The groundbreaking ceremony for the BC11 section was held this morning, presided over by Taichung Mayor Lu Shiow-yen. The event also saw the attendance of mayoral candidates Chiang Chi-chen and Ho Hsin-chun, highlighting the project's significance to the city's residents. The Blue Line, when completed, will feature a total of 20 stations, with 8 on the elevated section and 12 underground, covering a total length of 24.8 kilometers. The current construction focuses on the elevated segment from B01 to B03.
