Tainan flood victims eligible for vehicle, business aid

The Tainan city government has launched a series of relief measures for residents and businesses impacted by the heavy rains on August 22. The Bureau of Economic Development and the Transportation Bureau are offering financial assistance for flood-damaged businesses, household appliances, and vehicles.

Businesses affected by the flooding can receive subsidies based on the water level. For inundation between 15 to 50 centimeters, businesses will get NT$10,000, while those with water levels of 50 centimeters or higher will receive NT$35,000. Additionally, subsidies of NT$10,000 are available for damaged appliances in businesses flooded above 30 centimeters, and NT$3,000 for those flooded between 15 and 30 centimeters.

Small and medium-sized enterprises with proof of disaster impact can also apply for low-interest "SME Disaster Recovery Project Loans." These loans have a maximum interest rate of 2.22%, with loan guarantees of 100% for amounts up to NT$1 million and 95% for amounts exceeding NT$1 million.

For vehicle owners, assistance is available for cars, large motorcycles, regular motorcycles, and electric bikes damaged by the floods across Tainan's 37 administrative districts. Cars and large motorcycles can receive up to NT$15,000, while motorcycles and electric bikes are eligible for up to NT$2,000. Applications for vehicle aid must be submitted with proof of damage and repair costs.

All subsidy applications, including those for businesses and vehicles, must be submitted by September 30. The city government urges eligible individuals and businesses to apply promptly to receive the necessary support.
