Tainan pet fair features costume parade, even a chicken joins the fun

Tainan, Taiwan – A vibrant pet fair in Tainan's Zhenxing community brought together animal lovers for a day of fun and community engagement. The event, co-organized by the Zhenxing Community Development Association and Tainan City Council Speaker Qiu Li-li, featured a lively pet costume parade that became a major highlight.

The fair offered a diverse range of activities, including the much-anticipated pet parade, a charity market, and various family-friendly attractions. Adding to the festive atmosphere, the Tainan City Animal Protection and Health Inspection Office provided essential services such as rabies vaccinations, microchipping, and general pet health checks. The event aimed to promote animal welfare and responsible pet ownership while fostering community spirit.

The parade saw an array of imaginative costumes, with many owners and their furry companions sporting the colors of the Argentinian national team. Other participants showcased American cheerleading outfits, demonstrating the owners' and pets' creativity and teamwork. Notably, even a pet chicken joined the festivities, adding a unique and amusing element to the show.

Beyond the parade, the event underscored the deep bonds between pets and their owners. Zheng Guang-fu, chairman of the Zhenxing Community Development Association, highlighted the role of pets in community safety, referencing patrol dogs that have served the community for nearly a decade. Tong Xiao-yun, chairwoman of the Tainan Women's Association, shared her personal experience as a former village chief who integrated rescue dogs into the community patrol, emphasizing the importance of life education and owner responsibility. The event celebrated not just pets as companions, but as integral members of the community.
