Tainan Robot Industry Development Center established to build smart robotics cluster

Tainan, Taiwan – To accelerate the development of the smart robotics industry in southern Taiwan, the Tainan Robot Industry Development and Innovation Center officially launched on August 26th at the Liuke Science Park Service Center. This new hub is designed to create a robust robotics industry cluster in the region.

The center's mission is to integrate technological research and development, practical field validation, enterprise matchmaking, and investment services. By collaborating with the ongoing development of the third phase of the Liuke Science Park, the initiative aims to build a complete industrial ecosystem for smart robotics.

During the establishment ceremony, Tainan Mayor Huang Wei-che, alongside National Science and Technology Council Deputy Minister Su Chen-kang and Industrial Technology Research Institute Southern Branch Executive Director Chou Ta-hsin, presided over the event. The ceremony showcased 13 smart robot application results from various industries, including smart manufacturing, logistics, catering, healthcare, and security.

Mayor Huang emphasized that the center will focus on industry needs, field validation, and investment. It will support traditional industries in adopting AI and automation, and assist robotics startups and system integrators in testing, growing, and mass-producing their products in Tainan. The goal is to establish Tainan as a core base for the smart robotics industry in southern Taiwan, attracting both domestic and international developers and manufacturers. One notable exhibit was a firefighting robot developed by Jian Dong Precision Control, which has already been deployed in disaster relief operations. Chairman Lin Hung-chieh of Jian Dong highlighted the global trend of strengthening non-red supply chains as beneficial for Taiwan's robotics industry. He noted that the biggest challenge currently is practical application, and expressed optimism that the new center will foster collaboration and resource integration, driving industry growth.
