Tainan's Jiangjun Fishing Harbor Unveils New Floating Dock

Tainan's Jiangjun Fishing Harbor has officially opened a new floating dock, a project costing NT$84.2 million. The upgraded facility boasts 50 berths for fishing boats and 10 for yachts, significantly enhancing the harbor's infrastructure. This development is expected to improve operational safety for local fishermen and serve as a catalyst for the region's tourism industry.

The previous floating docks at Jiangjun Fishing Harbor were aging and damaged, particularly by Typhoon Danna in the previous year, which impacted fishing operations. The Tainan City Agriculture Bureau secured full funding of NT$84.2 million from the central government's General Revenue Sharing Fund, specifically from the Jiangjun Seawater Desalination Plant construction project, to rebuild the docks. The new structure features increased berthing capacity, reinforced anti-wave capabilities, and an aesthetically pleasing, non-slip surface.

Mayor Huang Wei-che emphasized the harbor's dual role in fishery production and marine leisure. He hopes the improved facilities will draw more visitors to enjoy the coastal scenery, local seafood, and the unique fishing village atmosphere. The harbor's development also aims to complement nearby attractions like the Jingzijiao Wapan Salt Field in Beimen, the "Tree of Life" in Qingkunshan, and the Cigu Lagoon, further promoting Tainan's coastal culture and natural beauty.
