Tainan Shopping Centers to Open Despite City-Wide Work, Class Suspension Due to Heavy Rain

Tainan City government declared a suspension of all work and classes for August 23 in anticipation of heavy rainfall. However, two major retail centers in the city, T. S. Shopping Mall and Tainan Far Eastern Department Store, have announced they will operate as usual.

The Tainan government issued its announcement yesterday, citing forecasts for severe weather. Despite the official directive for closures, both shopping centers proceeded with their plans to open their doors to customers.

Located in Tainan's East District, T. S. Shopping Mall announced early this morning that it would open at 11:00 AM. The mall stated it would provide timely updates should the situation change. Tainan Far Eastern Department Store followed suit, announcing its normal operating hours shortly after 7:00 AM, also scheduled to open at 11:00 AM.

The decision by the shopping centers to remain open contrasts with the city government's directive, leaving residents to navigate differing operational statuses amidst the expected heavy rains.
