Taipei Comics Festival Opens, Expects 640,000 Visitors and NT$300 Million Business

The 25th Taipei International Comics & Animation Festival (TICAF) kicked off on July 23, transforming the Taipei World Trade Center Hall 1 into a vibrant hub for ACGE (Animation, Comics, Games, and Entertainment) enthusiasts. The five-day event boasts 120 exhibitors and over 1,200 booths, promising a spectacular showcase for fans.

This year's festival is co-located with the Taiwan International Game & e-Sports Exhibition, creating a synergistic experience that is expected to draw an impressive 640,000 visitors. Organizers anticipate a significant economic impact, projecting NT$300 million (approximately $9.3 million) in business opportunities. The event integrates various facets of ACGE culture, including video games, e-sports, collectibles, Vtubers, toys, models, music, and cultural IPs.

Major gaming companies like Nintendo, Gamania, Cygames, IGS, and Userjoy Technology are present, offering hands-on experiences with popular titles such as "Pikmin 4" and "Pokémon Pokopia." Cygames will also reveal key information about its series "Granblue Fantasy: Relink." Beyond gaming, the festival features a packed schedule of stage events and performances, with over 64 activities planned across two main stages and the "ICHIBAN JAPAN Pavilion," which will host 24 guests from Taiwan and Japan.

A significant focus is placed on promoting Taiwanese original content. The "Taiwan Comics Pavilion" showcases 75 selected works from 39 partners and publishers, alongside four digital comic platforms. The 5th "Original IP Power Ranking" awards will also be presented, recognizing top Taiwanese comics and novels. The first prize in the comic category went to "Love in Contract" (課金派戀愛), a popular yuri work published by Da La Publishing Company, which has garnered over 10 million views.
