Taipei Medical Team Brings Services to Magong Welfare Institutions

A dedicated team from Taipei Medical University has brought vital services to vulnerable populations in Magong City, Penghu, through a "Xingfu Tongxing 1-Day Camp."

The initiative, facilitated by the Magong City Office, saw the Maple and Apricot Medical and Social Service Team visit four key institutions: Huimin Intellectual Development Center, Slow Angels Service Association, Penghu Elderly Home of the Ministry of Health and Welfare, and Sisi Long-Term Care Center.

Through health education courses, guidance, and interactive companionship, the team focused on caring for individuals with disabilities and the elderly. At the Sisi Long-Term Care Center, a therapist provided specialized advice on posture adjustment and daily care, aiming to enhance the quality of care delivered by frontline staff.

Magong Mayor Huang Chien-chung personally visited the Penghu Elderly Home and Sisi Long-Term Care Center to observe the activities and express gratitude to the instructors, service team members, and institutional staff. Huang emphasized the city office's commitment to continuously connecting universities, medical teams, and local welfare organizations to ensure professional services extend beyond single events and reach various care settings long-term.

Li Yi-ting, a representative from the service team, highlighted their mission to integrate medical expertise with social services, emphasizing that the experience is crucial for students to understand離島 (outlying islands) healthcare environments and cultivate empathy and social responsibility.
