Taiwan Black Bear Exhibition Opens at Fo Guang Shan Buddha Museum

An exhibition titled "Walking into the Land of Bears" is now open at the Fo Guang Shan Buddha Museum, offering the public a chance to learn about Taiwan black bears. The event, a collaboration between the Yushan National Park Headquarters and the museum, showcases more than three decades of research and conservation achievements related to the species.

Frequent sightings of Taiwan black bears, including mother and cub pairs, have been recorded in the Yushan-Nanhheng region. The exhibition aims to foster a spirit of "coexistence with bears" by presenting information on bear ecology, indigenous culture, high-mountain habitat research, and the latest infrared imaging. It also addresses the pressing issue of human-bear conflict.

Organizers emphasize the importance of responsible human behavior in bear habitats, such as properly managing food sources that might attract bears. Through environmental education and community engagement, the exhibition seeks to achieve the goal of harmonious coexistence between people and these iconic animals. The exhibition runs until December 27.
