Taiwan Candidate Shares Single Mother's Struggles on Father's Day

Changhua County magistrate candidate Chen Suyue marked Father's Day not just as a celebration, but as a reminder of the profound challenges faced by single parents. Having raised her two sons alone after her husband's fatal car accident, Chen understands the daily grind of 'paying the bills' – covering living expenses, education, and ensuring a normal upbringing for her children.

"For many single-parent families, the real difficulty lies in 'paying off' the daily necessities, children's education, and living expenses, allowing children to grow up in a normal environment, healthy and happy," Chen stated. Her campaign efforts included visiting the Xihu Farmers' Market to connect with voters, drawing on her own grassroots experience to empathize with the struggles of families, especially farmers facing unstable incomes.

Chen's platform includes promoting agricultural upgrades and cold chain logistics to increase the value of farm products. She also attended the Wanggong Fishing Fire Festival and later returned to northern Changhua for a joint campaign event. Reflecting on her journey, she stressed the need for practical support over mere encouragement for families in need.

If elected, Chen aims to expand comprehensive childcare policies and single-parent support systems. She envisions the government acting as a strong backing for all parents, fostering a happier Changhua. Her campaign emphasizes transforming personal experience into public policy, aiming to build a supportive community for all families in the county.
