Taiwan High Speed Rail Unveils New Business Class: 'Cocooning' Seats and Dual Tables Debut

Taiwan High Speed Rail (THSR) is preparing to welcome its first new-generation N700-ST train, manufactured by Japan's Hitachi. The initial unit is slated to arrive in Taiwan by August 15th, marking a significant upgrade to the nation's rail infrastructure.

The business car uses a more subdued color scheme, with beige and gold as the colors for the walls and car doors, and the carpet is made of a black, white, and gray interwoven textured fabric, showing a quiet, elegant, and light luxury style.

The company has unveiled the interior of the new train's business class, showcasing a sophisticated design. The cabins feature a calming color palette with beige and gold accents on walls and doors, complemented by a carpet with a black, white, and gray textured pattern, aiming for a serene, elegant, and subtly luxurious ambiance.

The business car seat cover material also uses soft and comfortable velvet, through the combination of color and graphics, to convey a stable, restrained, and generous texture.

Passengers can anticipate enhanced comfort with "cocooning" seats designed to optimize the recline angle, reducing pressure on the thighs. Lumbar support has been added to the seatbacks for improved comfort during long journeys. Reading lights are repositioned from above to the side of the headrest, offering more focused illumination. The business class also includes larger footrests and a retractable tray table, with an additional side table integrated into the armrest for added convenience during work or dining.

THSR adopts a "cocooning seat" design, which creates the best angle between the backrest and the seat surface when the seat is reclined, reducing the pressure on the thighs.
