Taiwan Men's Volleyball Team Dominates Macau 3-0 in East Asian Championship Opener

Taiwan's men's volleyball team secured a decisive 3-0 victory over Macau in their first match of the 2026 East Asian Championship. The team, competing in Group B alongside South Korea and Japan, dominated with set scores of 25-14, 25-16, and 25-17. This win marks a strong start for Taiwan, who are ranked 59th globally, significantly higher than Macau's 119th.

The team's overall performance followed the pre-match tactical plan. We need players to adjust their condition through actual combat and adapt to the court and game rhythm in serving, blocking, and offense-defense transitions as soon as possible, especially the spatial sense for jump serves.

The squad featured a new combination of players, including Japan-based hitter Chang Yu-Sheng and middle blocker Tsai Pei-Chang. The team's blocking was particularly effective, recording 11 successful blocks compared to Macau's 3. Key contributors included Wen Yi-Kai with 7 points, and Chang Yu-Sheng, Li Yuan, and Li Chun-Yu each adding 5 points.

Head coach Huang Hong-yu expressed satisfaction with the team's execution of their game plan, highlighting the importance of adapting to the court and game rhythm, especially with their jump serves. He stressed that the primary goal of the tournament is to build team stability and for players to focus on executing their skills, regardless of the opponent's strength.
