Taiwan opposition leader promotes cross-strait peace during US trip

Taiwan's main opposition leader, Cheng Li-wun, is visiting the United States with a central message of promoting "reconciliation and cooperation" between Beijing and Washington, emphasizing the need to avoid war. Cheng, who leads a delegation from the Kuomintang (KMT) party, arrived in San Francisco to begin a two-week U.S. tour that is drawing significant attention from Beijing, Taipei, and Washington.

During her visit, Cheng articulated her vision for the region, stating that China and the U.S. should foster a "relationship of friendship and cooperation."
