Taiwan's Hanguang Military Exercise Set to Begin; Support Group Pledges Aid

Taiwan's "Hanguang 42" live-fire military exercise is scheduled to commence this week, emphasizing realistic combat simulations over its 10-day duration. The annual drill is a critical event for testing and validating the nation's defense capabilities.

The Hanguang exercise is a critical moment for verifying the combat power of our armed forces. The Air Force, as the primary defense line in combat operations, bears an extremely heavy responsibility.

In preparation for the exercise, Lee Tung-liang, honorary chairman of the Military Dependents' Service Association (MDSA), visited the Air Force Command. He met with Vice Minister of National Defense Chung Shu-ming and Air Force Commander Cheng Jung-feng to offer encouragement to the officers and soldiers engaged in combat readiness preparations. Lee pledged to rally greater support from businesses and the broader society for the armed forces, positioning them as a robust backing for national defense.

During his visit, Lee presented a bonus and gifts to Air Force personnel, commending their high morale despite the dual pressures of demanding combat readiness and intensive training. He noted that the exercise occurs shortly before the 89th anniversary of the "August 14" Air Victory, a significant historical event. Lee stated that the troops' diligent preparations embody the "Qiaoqiao Spirit" of their predecessors in modern defense efforts.

The MDSA chairman also reminded the troops to prioritize safety during the upcoming exercise and wished "Hanguang 42" a successful conclusion.
