Taiwan's People First Party chairman calls for President Lai's resignation

Taiwan's People First Party (TPP) celebrated its seventh anniversary in Taichung, drawing hundreds of supporters and notable figures, including Taichung Mayor Lu Shiow-yen. The event was marked by strong criticism directed at President Lai Ching-te by party leaders.

During his address, TPP founder Ko Wen-je, who had previously misspoken the president's name as "Lai Xiang-de" at a rally, reiterated his strong opposition. "Lai Ching-te, we will absolutely not surrender," Ko declared, eliciting enthusiastic applause from the audience. Ko also posted a message on a "Little Grass" graffiti wall at the event, reading "Carcinogenic oil, outrageous."

Legislative member Huang Kuo-chang, the current TPP chairman, also contributed to the graffiti wall, posting "If Lai Xiang-de can't do the job, he should step down" and "Buying a convenience store, still afraid of eating carcinogenic oil." These remarks alluded to recent controversies and Ko's previous verbal slip-up, which had sparked a widespread online search for the fictional "Lai Xiang-de."
