Taiwan unveils military star cards and other merchandise for Han Kuang exercise

Taiwan's Ministry of National Defense is launching a range of commemorative merchandise for the upcoming Han Kuang 42 exercise, scheduled from August 5 to 14. This initiative, aimed at fostering greater public interest and support, includes T-shirts, embroidered patches, keychains, and collectible "military star cards." These items showcase modern Taiwanese military hardware, reflecting the nation's commitment to defense modernization. The designs feature prominent new weapons systems such as the HIMARS multiple rocket system, the Altius-600M attack drone, and the Patriot III air defense system. The ministry collaborated with the General Political Warfare Bureau's cultural and creative department, "Youth Daily," and the Council of Cultural Affairs to develop these products. "We want the public to pay more attention to and support the Han Kuang exercise," stated Wang Yi-hung, Director of the Ministry of National Defense's Political Warfare Bureau's Propaganda and Psychological Warfare Division. While traditional "Guaiguai" snacks associated with the exercise are not part of this year's release, collaborations for other events are ongoing. The "military star cards" will feature 18 key pieces of equipment, including the M1A2T tank, F-16V fighter jet, and Tuo Chiang-class corvette, offering a popular way for citizens to learn about the military's advancements. Commemorative patches will be awarded to the top 10% of reservist participants, recognizing their dedication to training and national defense.
