Taiwanese charity receives 100-box order after presidential order cancellation

A timely intervention has offered a lifeline to the Changhua Cishheng Benevolent Society after a significant order of Mid-Autumn Festival gift boxes was abruptly canceled. The Presidential Office had initially ordered over 300 boxes, but this order was rescinded due to opposition party budget cuts, creating a difficult situation for the charity and its residents.

In response to the crisis, Yeh Chi-yuan, a candidate for Huatan Township Mayor nominated by the Democratic Progressive Party, mobilized a group of friends. Together, they placed an order for 100 boxes of the "Walking Moon" gift boxes, effectively fulfilling one-third of the canceled order. This action provides immediate relief and a much-needed boost to the society's efforts.

Yeh Chi-yuan expressed his joy in helping, stating, "Doing good is so happy!" He explained that after seeing reports about the situation, he discussed it with friends and decided to take concrete action to help. He urged factories, companies, and organizations to also respond and assist Cishheng in utilizing its prepared raw materials and mitigating the impact of the canceled order.

The Changhua Cishheng Benevolent Society acknowledged the significant support, noting that "one box is not too little, 100 boxes are even better." The order from Yeh Chi-yuan and his friends will help the disabled residents maintain their work routines and ease some of the operational pressures. The society continues to seek large-scale purchases from businesses and groups to cover the remaining shortfall from the original order.
