Taiwanese Prospect Chen Mu-Heng Claims First Win in Japan's Minor League

Taiwanese pitching prospect Chen Mu-Heng achieved his first victory of the season in the Orix Buffaloes' minor league team, delivering a strong performance in his debut as a fully contracted player. The 20-year-old right-hander pitched 2.2 scoreless innings of relief against the SoftBank Hawks' second team, allowing no hits while striking out two and walking four. He recorded a maximum velocity of 151 kph (93.8 mph) during his outing.

Chen, who was a standout pitcher for the U18 Asian Championship-winning Taiwanese team in 2022, earning awards for best starter, ERA, and winning percentage, was signed by Orix. Last season, his first in Japan, he posted a 1.17 ERA in five appearances. His consistent performance in the minor league this season earned him a promotion to a fully contracted player, where he will wear jersey number 92.
