Taiwanese Star Chen Ying-Chun Reportedly Re-signing with CBA's Beijing Royal Fighters

Taiwanese basketball star Chen Ying-Chun is reportedly close to finalizing a contract extension with the Beijing Royal Fighters of the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA). His future with the team has been a subject of significant attention since his contract expired this summer.

Chinese media reports indicate that Chen is poised to accept a three-year "Type D maximum salary contract." Under current CBA regulations, this type of contract allows for an annual salary of up to 6 million RMB, which translates to approximately NT$28 million.

Chen, the first Taiwanese player to be selected as the top pick in the CBA draft, has been a core player for the Guangzhou Loong Lions and later the Beijing Royal Fighters. He is a consistent presence in the CBA All-Star games.

The substantial offer from the Royal Fighters demonstrates the club's high regard for Chen's on-court value and leadership. This agreement effectively puts an end to recent speculation about his potential return to play in Taiwan's professional leagues, where several teams were reportedly interested in signing him.
