Tangkak candidate Haw Chin Teck champions 'Tangkak First' development and agro-tourism

Datuk Haw Chin Teck, the Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate for the Tangkak state seat, aims to implement a holistic development approach centered on local economic expansion. Leveraging his extensive legal background and political experience since the mid-1990s, Chin Teck intends to champion an agenda that benefits all segments of society, irrespective of ethnicity.

His vision for Tangkak emphasizes agro-tourism, particularly focusing on Mount Ledang, and the creation of a "Tangkak First" brand to stimulate local pride and economic activity. Furthermore, he proposes the establishment of a youth think tank to engage young people in the development process. Chin Teck's primary goal is to transform Tangkak into a thriving area characterized by high-paying employment opportunities, quality investments, and sustainable economic development, aligning with the Johor Economic Transformation Plan (JETP).

Chin Teck views agro-tourism centered on Mount Ledang as a crucial economic driver for Tangkak. He believes that the mountain's historical significance and natural beauty offer a unique competitive advantage that can be harnessed through planned development. This development, he stresses, must be supported by robust infrastructure, including high-standard hotels, efficient transportation systems, and professional tourism services like trained tour guides. Such an integrated approach, he argues, will not only boost tourist numbers but also create skilled jobs and increase local income.

Additionally, Chin Teck proposes establishing a research and development center, particularly for the agricultural sector, given Tangkak's strength in durian production. He believes that innovation in processing and preservation can add significant value to products like durian, moving beyond raw sales and stabilizing prices. This could lead to the development of high-value food industry ingredients and processed goods such as pastes and ice cream. He also plans to form a special committee for youth engagement, encouraging young professionals from diverse fields to contribute ideas for Tangkak's development.
