Tanker truck collision blocks Freeway 2 Westbound in Taiwan, causing major delays

A serious accident involving a tanker truck and a van caused significant traffic disruptions on Freeway 2 Westbound in Taiwan on the morning of the 9th. The collision occurred around 7 a.m. near kilometer 8.3, close to the entrance of the Airport System Interchange.

The impact resulted in the tanker truck blocking multiple lanes, leading to severe traffic congestion for vehicles heading west and towards the airport. Emergency services, including national highway police and the Taoyuan City Fire Bureau, responded promptly to the scene.

The 34-year-old female driver of the van sustained injuries, including pain in her left forearm and thigh, and was conscious when rescued. She was transported to Taoyuan General Hospital for immediate medical attention.

Authorities have since cleared the accident scene and are working to manage the traffic flow. The cause of the collision is currently under investigation by the police. The incident occurred amidst heavy rainfall in the Taoyuan area, attributed to Typhoon "White Dolphin" and its outer bands.
