Tatung Company Mobilizes 900 for Beach Cleanup, Collects Over 2 Tons of Trash

In a powerful display of corporate responsibility and environmental stewardship, Tatung Company employees and their families recently dedicated their weekend to a significant beach cleanup effort at Zhuangwei Beach in Yilan. This initiative, aptly themed 'Greatly Displaying Green Strength, Unitedly Protecting the Earth,' saw nearly 900 participants remove a staggering 2,280 kilograms of waste over two days.

This event transcends a mere cleanup; it's a tangible manifestation of Tatung's commitment to Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles. Beyond the physical act of collecting debris, the company integrated an educational program focused on the conservation of the Little Tern. These migratory birds, which travel from Australia to breed in Taiwan, were the focus of pre-event education and on-site awareness measures, including warning signs and patrol mechanisms, ensuring their breeding grounds remain undisturbed.

Participants expressed a profound sense of accomplishment, feeling they had personally contributed to environmental protection. As Chen Jian-hong, Vice Chairman of the Tatung Company Sanxia Plant Labor Union, noted, 'Talking about environmental protection in the office is a concept; coming out for a beach cleanup is action.' This hands-on approach, involving the collection of discarded fishing nets and bottles, serves as a vital tool for environmental education, embedding a sense of responsibility from the ground up. Tatung's dedication to such initiatives underscores its holistic approach to sustainability, integrating environmental conservation into its organizational culture alongside its core business in power infrastructure, green energy, and digital transformation.
