Taylor Swift Songs Removed from Trump Campaign Videos

Songs by pop superstar Taylor Swift have been removed from campaign materials used by President Donald Trump and his White House campaign, according to Reuters. The removal comes after objections were raised regarding the use of her music.

Two of Swift's tracks had been featured in campaign content over the past few weeks. Swift, one of the world's most famous pop artists, hails from the key swing state of Pennsylvania and is widely seen as having significant political influence, at least among some fans. Maria Lindén, a researcher at the Finnish Institute of International Affairs specializing in U.S. politics, noted in a September 2024 interview that Swift's endorsements could be a decisive factor for some voters.

While Swift has not directly spoken about Trump recently, she indicated before the 2024 election that she intended to vote for his opponent, then-Vice President Kamala Harris. Swift's public statements have often been critical of Trump. During the 2020 campaign, she wrote on social media that Trump was aware "we don't want him as our president."

Trump himself has previously criticized Swift and downplayed her influence. However, his administration's social media content has utilized the pop star's songs before. Notably, Trump publicly congratulated Swift and NFL player Travis Kelce upon their engagement announcement. The White House has been active in using songs by public figures in its social media communications. Recently, other prominent pop artists, including Ariana Grande and Sabrina Carpenter, have also expressed their desire for the Trump administration not to use their music in campaigns.
