TCN announces 10-hour outage in Ondo communities

Residents and businesses in Okitipupa and Ondo Town are experiencing a 10-hour power outage due to scheduled maintenance by the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN). The Benin Region of TCN announced the planned disruption at its Ondo 132/33kV Transmission Substation, which began at 8 a.m. and concluded at 6 p.m. on Tuesday.

The outage is necessary for TCN engineers to undertake critical work. They are transferring the Ife-Ondo 132kV transmission line from its current bay to a newly designated bay. Simultaneously, the substation will see the inauguration of a newly installed 60 Mega Volt Ampere (MVA) 132/33kV transformer.

Consequently, the Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC) will be unable to off-take power supply to its customers in Okitipupa and Ondo Town during the 10-hour outage.

During the 10-hour period, the Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC) will be unable to supply power to its customers in the affected areas. TCN has issued an apology for any inconvenience caused by this necessary interruption to electricity consumers.
