Tears and Tributes: Farewell to 'Queen's Go-To Makeup Artist' Chen Ling-wei

A memorial service was held on August 6 for Chen Ling-wei, a celebrated makeup artist known as the "Queen's Go-To Makeup Artist," who passed away on July 27 at the age of 56 due to illness. The service took place at the Zhongshan branch of the Presbyterian Church in Taiwan, drawing numerous figures from the entertainment industry who mourned her loss.

Chen Ling-wei had collaborated with many prominent actresses and singers, enhancing their appearances for various performances and events. Her passing has deeply saddened many in the industry. Actress Jia Jingwen revealed she cried for an entire night upon hearing the news. The memorial venue was adorned with nearly 200 flower baskets, a testament to Chen's popularity and the high regard in which she was held.

Singer Jiang Hui, who was unable to attend the service, sent flowers and conveyed her wishes for Chen's peaceful rest. Jiang Hui's agent attended on her behalf and reported that Jiang Hui was overcome with emotion and tears when asked if she had any farewell words for Chen's family. Despite knowing about Chen's illness since Jiang Hui's concert in Kaohsiung last year, Jiang Hui had maintained a facade of ignorance, hoping Chen would prioritize rest.

Having successfully battled cancer herself, Jiang Hui understood the emotional toll of illness. Her agent shared that Jiang Hui had encouraged Chen, saying, "I believe you can get through this." Jiang Hui recalled instances backstage where Chen would offer to touch up her makeup, an offer Jiang Hui often declined to spare Chen from exertion. Upon learning of Chen's death, Jiang Hui reportedly cried out, "If only I had let her touch up my makeup a little more back then; she was someone who loved makeup so much."
