Teen charged after mother killed, sister stabbed

A shocking incident in Perth, Western Australia, has led to a teenage boy being charged with murder. The 16-year-old allegedly used a knife to kill his mother and stab his 12-year-old sister, who miraculously escaped to seek help.

Police responded to a home in Bentley, in Perth's southeast, on Tuesday morning. Officers found the 35-year-old mother deceased at the scene. Her 12-year-old daughter had also been stabbed but managed to flee the residence and reach a nearby highway.

Bystanders provided immediate first aid to the injured girl before she was transported by ambulance to Perth Children's Hospital. She is currently in critical but stable condition. WA Police Acting Inspector Jessica Securo acknowledged the profound impact of the event, stating, "This incident will have a significant impact on the family, friends and loved ones of all those involved."

"Our thoughts are with them all, particularly the 12-year-old girl," Securo added. The 16-year-old suspect is scheduled to appear before the Perth Children's Court on Wednesday.
