Teenage boy on e-bike dies in hit-and-run in County Clare

A teenage boy riding an e-bike was found unresponsive by the roadside after a hit-and-run in County Clare. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Gardaí and emergency services found the boy, who was in his mid-teens, shortly after 11 p.m. on the L3050 at Cottage Cross near Clonlara. A second vehicle involved in the incident failed to remain at the scene.

The area has been preserved for examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators, and local traffic diversions are in place. The coroner has been notified, with a post-mortem examination to be arranged.

Gardaí are asking anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward. Road users in the Clonlara area at the time are also being asked to provide any camera footage, including dash-cam recordings, that could assist the investigation.
