Teenager Fatally Shot 20 Times in Public Street in Puente Alto

A 17-year-old boy was murdered in a brazen daylight attack on a public street in Puente Alto, part of Chile's Metropolitan Region. The incident occurred early in the morning as the teenager was walking along Queilen street.

According to police reports, a group of individuals in a vehicle approached the victim and unleashed a barrage of at least 20 gunshots. "The young man received one ballistic impact in the cervical part of his body and died. Some individuals apparently passed by in a vehicle and fired various shots at the victim," stated prosecutor Camila López of the Organized Crime and Homicide Unit (ECOH).

Despite being rushed to the SAPU Raúl Silva Henríquez by a friend, medical efforts were unable to save the teenager, who succumbed to his injuries. Investigators found at least 20 ballistic evidence markers at the scene. The prosecutor's office has tasked the PDI's Homicide Brigade with conducting the necessary investigations to clarify the circumstances surrounding the fatal shooting.

The ECOH unit is actively working at the scene in Bajos de Mena, Puente Alto, collaborating with the PDI to investigate the homicide of the adolescent, who sustained a fatal gunshot wound shortly after leaving an apartment building.
