Teenager Fatally Shot in Montevideo's Marconi Neighborhood After Intense Gunfire

A 17-year-old male has died after being shot during an intense exchange of gunfire in the Marconi neighborhood of Montevideo. The incident occurred on Friday afternoon, leaving authorities searching for those responsible for the fatal attack.

According to reports, the teenager sustained a gunshot wound to the chest. He was initially transported to the Capitán Tula polyclinic by a private vehicle before being transferred to Hospital Pasteur, where he succumbed to his injuries hours later. Police responded to the scene after receiving alerts about the shooting and discovered shell casings, preserving the area for forensic analysis.

The department of investigations for Operational Zone III is actively working to reconstruct the events leading to the shooting and to identify the individuals involved. The motive behind the attack remains unclear as the investigation progresses.

In a separate incident reported on the same day, a 35-year-old man died from an electric shock while allegedly attempting to steal cables from a UTE substation in San José. Police confirmed the man had a prior criminal record. Forensic teams also processed the scene of this incident.
