Telecel Ghana equips University of Ghana with new IT lab

Telecel Ghana has commissioned and handed over a fully equipped 42-unit computer laboratory to the University of Ghana, bolstering digital learning, research, and innovation at the nation's premier university. This corporate social responsibility initiative directly addresses a request from the university's leadership, underscoring Telecel's dedication to enhancing Ghana's digital education landscape.

The telecommunications company has been a consistent supporter of the University of Ghana since 2010, providing dedicated internet connectivity, leased line services, and tertiary connectivity solutions. Plans are already in motion to expand network capacity to accommodate the increasing demand for digital teaching, learning, and research activities. The newly inaugurated IT lab is further enhanced with an 86-inch interactive touchscreen display and dedicated internet connectivity.

During the commissioning ceremony, Telecel Ghana CEO Ing. Patricia Obo-Nai highlighted the project as a token of appreciation for the university's long-standing trust. Obo-Nai emphasized that digital inclusion requires access to reliable connectivity, devices, skills, and an enabling environment, making this project particularly significant for the company.

Prof. Gordon Awandare, the University's Pro Vice-Chancellor for Academic and Student Affairs, expressed gratitude for Telecel Ghana's prompt response and generous support. He reaffirmed the partnership's value in advancing the university's digital transformation agenda. He believes the computer lab will significantly enhance the student experience and help maintain the university's status as a leading institution in Ghana.
