Temperatures to Rise to 20°C in Uruguay; Forecast Includes Sun and Rain

Uruguay can expect relatively stable weather in the coming days, with temperatures gradually climbing to reach a high of 20°C in Montevideo by Sunday. While sunshine will make appearances, cloud cover will persist, creating the possibility of occasional, isolated light showers. Meteorologist José Serra described the upcoming period as having "a window to the sun," but noted that atmospheric instability remains.

For Thursday, Serra forecasts partly sunny skies with temperatures between 14°C and 15°C in Montevideo, with no rain expected. Friday will also feature partly sunny conditions, but cloudiness is predicted to increase by night, potentially bringing very light, isolated showers. The maximum temperature is expected to be around 15°C or 16°C. Saturday is anticipated to be similar, with temperatures reaching 17°C, and a chance of light drizzles late in the day.

Sunday is set to be warmer, with temperatures reaching 20°C and variable cloudiness. However, Serra indicated that starting Sunday, a period of atmospheric instability, characterized by a low-pressure system, will begin to affect Uruguay for several days. This instability is expected to bring precipitation and possible thunderstorms early the following week, particularly in the northern parts of the country on Monday and Tuesday.

The National Meteorological Institute (Inumet) offers a slightly different forecast for Montevideo and its metropolitan area. Inumet predicts a steady rise in temperatures towards the weekend, with a minimum of 5°C and a maximum of 16°C on Thursday, accompanied by sun and cloudy periods. For Friday, they forecast 9°C to 16°C with scarce precipitation likely. Saturday is projected to have lows of 9°C and highs of 18°C, also with a low chance of rain. Inumet indicates no precipitation for Sunday (10°C to 19°C) and Monday (9°C to 20°C), with cloudy conditions on Monday. From Tuesday onwards, Inumet anticipates a drop in temperatures, with maximums settling around 15°C on Tuesday and 13°C on Wednesday.
