Ten investigated in drug trafficking case; two suspects allegedly used 10-year-old for cannabis sales

Romanian authorities are investigating ten individuals in connection with a drug trafficking ring, with a disturbing allegation that two suspects used a 10-year-old child to distribute cannabis. The group is accused of trafficking risky and highly risky drugs, as well as engaging in illegal psychoactive substance operations.

According to the Arad County Police Inspectorate, the network was involved in selling cannabis and crystalline substances. Among those targeted are a man and a woman from the same family who allegedly enlisted the minor for drug distribution. Two individuals also face charges for possessing risky drugs for personal consumption without authorization.

From the evidence administered, it resulted that, during 2026, the persons allegedly procured, possessed, manipulated, intermediated and directly sold cannabis and crystalline substances (3CMC, 4CMC and α-Etilaminopentiofenona), with sums between 100 and 1,400 lei per transaction.

The use of a child in these operations has drawn particular condemnation.

During the investigation, various drugs and psychoactive substances were seized. Fourteen house searches conducted on Tuesday uncovered and confiscated quantities of plant and crystalline substances (cannabis and α-Etilaminopentiofenona), grinders, precision scales, items with drug residue, cash, and other evidence. Prosecutors from the Directorate for Investigating Organized Crime and Terrorism – Arad Territorial Office ordered the detention of all ten individuals. On Wednesday, a judge ordered the preventive arrest of seven suspects and house arrest for one woman for 30 days.

Also, the investigations showed that two of the persons, a man and a woman, members of the same family, allegedly sold cannabis, including through an intermediary, a 10-year-old minor.
