Tepito homicides linked to criminal group clashes, prosecutor says

Mexico City's prosecutor, Bertha Alcalde Luján, has stated that recent homicides in the Tepito neighborhood are the result of confrontations between rival criminal groups. The Fiscalía General de Justicia (FGJ) is actively investigating these cases and working to identify and dismantle the organizations responsible.

Alcalde Luján emphasized the "very, very deep work" being done, not only on the ongoing homicide investigations but also on targeting the criminal groups themselves. She noted significant arrests of gang leaders in recent months, indicating progress in disrupting their operations.

There is very, very deep work being done, not only regarding these cases that are being investigated and where there are already important advances but also concerning the criminal groups that are identified in this area where there have already been very relevant arrests in recent months in relation to the leaders of these gangs.

The FGJ is collaborating closely with the Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC) to combat and dismantle these criminal elements. This coordinated effort aims to advance investigations and bring stability to the area.

Authorities anticipate that the actions being taken in the coming months will lead to a reduction in homicides in Tepito. The focus remains on both addressing the immediate violence and implementing long-term strategies to eradicate organized crime in the neighborhood.
