Terengganu records 6.5 million tourists in six months

Terengganu has achieved a significant milestone, attracting around 6.5 million tourists and generating an estimated RM1.4 billion to RM1.5 billion in revenue during the first half of the year. State Tourism, Culture, Environment, and Climate Change Committee Chairman Datuk Razali Idris expressed confidence that the state is on track to meet its annual target of nine million visitors.

Domestic tourists constituted approximately 70 percent of the total visitors, a strong indicator of the state's appeal. Razali highlighted that Terengganu is increasingly seen not just as a transit point but as a preferred destination for quality, longer stays. This is supported by data showing a consistent rise in domestic visitors, from 10.23 million in 2022 to 15.46 million in 2025, demonstrating a robust and growing trust in the state as a tourist destination.

The positive performance underscores the resilience and recovery of Terengganu's tourism sector in the post-pandemic era. The state's strategy appears to be paying off, with a clear upward trend in visitor numbers and overnight stays, solidifying its position as a key tourist hub in Malaysia.
