Terrorist attack kills 15, including 14 security personnel, in Pakistan's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

A devastating terrorist attack on a joint police checkpost in Pakistan's Tank district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has resulted in the deaths of 15 individuals, predominantly security personnel. The military's media wing, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), confirmed the incident occurred early Friday.

The assailants sought to breach the check post security; however, their nefarious designs were swiftly and decisively foiled by the vigilant and resolute response of security forces.

According to the ISPR statement, the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan, referred to by the attackers' self-proclaimed name 'Fitna-al-Khawarij,' attempted to breach the checkpost's security. Security forces responded swiftly, thwarting the militants' plans and engaging those attempting to flee. The statement reported that 12 'khawarij' were eliminated during the engagement.

Displaying unwavering courage and professional excellence, troops engaged the fleeing khawarij with precision, eliminating 12 khawarij.

The attackers utilized an explosive-laden vehicle, ramming it into the perimeter wall of the checkpost. The resulting blast caused severe damage to the facility's infrastructure. The ISPR statement lamented that "15 brave sons of the soil, including 12 military, two policemen and a government official ex forest department, rendered the ultimate sacrifice and embraced shahadat (martyrdom)."
