Tetouan lawyers condemn tearing of Moroccan national flag in Spain

The Association of Young Lawyers in Tetouan has condemned the tearing of Morocco’s national flag during recent events in some Spanish cities, calling the act an unacceptable attack on a national symbol.

In a statement, the association said it was responding to practices it considered offensive, including attacks on symbols of the kingdom and rhetoric described as racist and inciting hatred against migrants. It highlighted Moroccan nationals living in Spain as among those targeted by such discourse.

The lawyers said their position reflected their professional and civic responsibility, as well as their commitment to the rule of law, human rights and human dignity. They rejected discrimination, racism and hate speech.

At the same time, the association affirmed the right to protest and express political positions. It said such rights must be exercised within the law and with respect for rights and freedoms. The statement stressed that damaging Morocco’s flag dishonors a national symbol and rejects conduct targeting Moroccan symbols or the dignity of Moroccan citizens, inside Morocco or abroad.
