Thailand arrests three Malaysians as drug mules with 87kg of meth

Thai authorities apprehended three Malaysian nationals at the Hat Yai Railway Station on Friday, seizing a significant quantity of illicit drugs. The suspects were detained after officials discovered 87 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine hidden in their luggage.

The three suspects acted as couriers, receiving RM8,000 each from a drug syndicate to transport the supply of methamphetamine into Malaysia.

The operation, conducted by the Narcotics Suppression Bureau (NSB) and Thai police, involved searching three wheeled bags and backpacks belonging to the suspects. Preliminary investigations suggest the individuals were acting as drug couriers for a syndicate, with each reportedly receiving RM8,000 to transport the methamphetamine into Malaysia.

Authorities are continuing their investigation to identify the broader network involved in the drug trafficking operation. The suspects face charges related to the illegal possession of Category 1 narcotics for distribution, an offense deemed a threat to public safety and national security.

These criminal organizations are reportedly leveraging train services as a method to circumvent detection by law enforcement agencies. The three arrested individuals are reportedly in their 30s.
