The Buih Laundry becomes a source of livelihood for a husband and wife

Azzad Othman, 43, and Siti Nur Shakira Mohamad Shamsi, 37, have transformed a bold venture into a thriving laundry business, The Buih Laundry, in Perlis, Malaysia. For the past 11 years, this couple has been operating a modern laundry service that now reportedly earns them tens of thousands of ringgit each month.

Their journey began 11 years ago when they established The Buih Laundry at a commercial lot in Arau, Perlis. Despite lacking extensive prior experience in the laundry service industry, their dedication and innovative approach have paid off. The business has garnered significant support from the local community, drawn in by the comprehensive facilities and the application of modern technology.

Azzad, the founder, explained that their passion for the industry fueled the business's inception in 2015. "This business stemmed from our deep interest in the laundry industry, specifically to provide systematic, comfortable, and friendly services to customers," he told Utusan Malaysia. He acknowledged the initial challenges, including limited capital and a lack of industry knowledge, compounded by stiff competition from existing laundry operators.

Despite these hurdles, the couple persevered. "However, we put our faith in God and worked hard to face everything. In fact, all these challenges did not stop us from progressing and further developing this enterprise," Azzad stated. Currently, their single branch is equipped with nine washing machines and a combination of single and double pocket dryers. They maintain these machines regularly to ensure optimal performance and customer satisfaction.

The Buih Laundry offers a range of services, including full wash-and-dry packages, wash-only, drying, and ironing. A particularly popular offering is their "wash & go" drop-off service, where staff handle the entire process from washing to ironing. Customers are notified upon completion and can collect their cleaned items. Siti Nur Shakira, the Operations Manager, revealed that the business achieves a gross income of approximately RM30,000 per month, largely from local residents and busy professionals who utilize the convenient services.
