'The Devil Wears Prada 2': The acclaimed sequel finally arrives on streaming

The highly anticipated sequel, 'El diablo viste a la moda 2' (The Devil Wears Prada 2), has finally arrived on streaming platforms, becoming available on Disney+ this Wednesday following its successful theatrical release in Argentina. The film generated significant buzz even before its premiere, with just two minutes of trailer footage and the enduring appeal of its iconic characters capturing audience attention.

This sequel revisits the story of Andrea Sachs, portrayed by Anne Hathaway, and the formidable Miranda Priestly, played by Meryl Streep, twenty years after the original 2006 film. The movie premiered in Argentine cinemas on April 30, with preview screenings starting April 29, and quickly became a major phenomenon. It drew over 500,000 viewers in its first five days and reached one million spectators in just 15 days.

In the acclaimed sequel, Andrea Sachs returns to work at Runway magazine, but this time she is not Miranda Priestly's assistant. The prestigious fashion magazine is navigating a period of turbulence, and Andy is hired as a content editor to help steer it through the storm. The film also features the reunion of the trio with Emily, played by Emily Blunt, who now serves as the head of communications for Dior.

The original 2006 film was based on Lauren Weisberger's best-selling novel of the same name, inspired by her own experiences as an assistant to Anna Wintour at Vogue. Weisberger later wrote a book sequel, 'Revenge Wears Prada' (2013), which focused on Andy and Emily creating a bridal magazine called 'The Plunge' ten years after the first book. However, the current film sequel is not based on this second book.

While the new installment successfully brings back key original cast members, including Stanley Tucci as Nigel Kipling, some notable absences include Andy's love interests from the original film, Nate Cooper and Christian Thompson.
