The faces of CJP movement that drove big change: Boston graduate, IITian, JNU scholar, investigative journalist

A 36-day protest movement, initially born from satire, has concluded with the government agreeing to all its demands, including the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), a student-led force, successfully pushed for accountability regarding the NEET paper leak and other exam irregularities.

The movement's genesis was Abhijeet Dipke's satirical social media account, created in response to a remark by the Chief Justice of India. The CJP's X account described itself as "A political front of the youth, by the youth, for the youth. Secular - Socialist - Democratic - Lazy."

Dipke, a journalism graduate with a master's in Public Relations from Boston University, leveraged his expertise in digital political messaging to build online support. The CJP's Instagram following reportedly surpassed that of the ruling BJP. Dipke returned to India to lead protests, culminating in demonstrations at Delhi's Jantar Mantar.

As the movement gained momentum, investigative journalist Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka emerged as key spokespersons and led negotiations with the government. Their efforts, alongside widespread student participation, pressured the administration to address the protesters' grievances.

The government's concessions included compensation for the parents of students who died by suicide due to the NEET paper leak, alongside other significant demands. Following the announcement of Pradhan's resignation, Dipke posted on X, "Going to take a nap. See you all in a little while," signaling the end of the protest.
