"The Pitt" and "Hacks" lead Emmy nominations with 25 and 24 nods respectively

HBO's acclaimed emergency room drama "The Pitt" is leading the race for this year's Emmy Awards, garnering a remarkable 25 nominations. The series, which has previously won best drama, has a strong chance to repeat its success, with star Noah Wyle also nominated for his role as Dr. "Robby" Robinavitch.

Adding to HBO's dominance, the final season of the popular comedy "Hacks" achieved a record-breaking 24 nominations. This haul marks a significant achievement for a comedy series in a single year. "Hacks" is vying for best comedy, an award it has won previously. Star Jean Smart, portraying comedian Deborah Vance, is nominated for best comedy actress for the fifth time, potentially securing a sweep after winning four previous times for the role.

HBO Max emerged as the top network, securing a total of 122 nominations across its programming. Netflix followed closely behind with 111 nominations. The nominations reflect a competitive year in television, with "The Pitt" earning multiple acting nods, including four for supporting drama actress, while "Hacks" also saw its supporting cast recognized with nominations for Hannah Einbinder, Meg Stalter, and co-creator Paul W. Downs.

The Emmy winners will be celebrated at a ceremony in Los Angeles on September 14, broadcast live on NBC and available for streaming on Peacock.
