Malaysian singer and composer Faizal Tahir is reflecting on a potential retirement from his singing career, emphasizing that this contemplation is not about seeking attention or making a dramatic exit from the arts. Instead, Tahir sees retirement as a natural progression for anyone in the workforce, and for him, it specifically means stepping away from performing, not from music creation as a whole.

He credits the encouragement of those around him, particularly his management, business partner Mike Chan of Faithful Music, and his supportive fans, for keeping him in the industry longer than he might have otherwise stayed. "Sometimes I feel like I have nothing more to give. But whenever that feeling comes, someone will ask for something or give me something, making me feel like I still need to be in the industry," he explained.

Looking back at the first eight to ten years of his career, Tahir admitted that his focus was heavily on his work, especially during his peak popularity. Now, as he ages, he recognizes the irreversible passage of time and the desire to reconnect with his family. "Family is the number one thing I think about. My family is large, and perhaps in the first eight to 10 years of my career, I focused too much on work," he said. He feels a need to compensate for the time lost and is motivated by his children growing up.

Tahir also believes he can contribute to music in other ways, particularly through songwriting and production, which he feels more passionate about. "When I talk about retiring, I mean retiring from singing only. I feel I can still write and produce songs because my interest and passion are more in that area," he shared. He is driven by the desire to spend more quality time with his family and believes he can still make meaningful contributions to the music scene through his creative talents beyond performing.
